Our Story
The Better Half Wines are made at the edge of the earth by husband-and-wife winemakers George and Jules.
They are bold drops, born of big skies and bright sunlight,
to express the rugged Marlborough landscape where they were born.

THE BIG QUESTION
What do you name your wine when your wife is already a well-known winemaker with her own label?
For George, the answer was
obvious and The Better Half Wine was born 😉
WHO IS “THE BETTER HALF”?
The debate rages on over
many glasses of wine…
Suffice to say both George and Jules each claim the title!
(and both make a delicious drop of wine).
AVIATOR, TINKERER, WINEMAKER
George Elworthy was born in rural South Island New Zealand, and the mountains and valleys of this rugged landscape are his home.
He’s now a part-time pilot, amateur aircraft restorer and avid mountain biker.
He’s also an experienced winemaker but that’s a bit hard to fit on a business card, so he’s content to be known as “The Better Half ”.
